I'm Yoni Pizer, your new State Representative and the first openly gay person to ever represent our District in Springfield. Together with my husband, Brad Lippitz, I have raised and educated our two sons here, created and built small businesses here, coached soccer here, worshiped here, and loved, lived and breathed the dynamic and diverse culture of this incredible community.

After decades of involvement in our community, I'm honored to have the opportunity to step up and serve our community. I'm looking forward to continuing the long tradition of effective, honest and progressive representation of the 12th district.

At this moment in our country and state, the role of an active, involved, and dedicated state representative is crucial. We need someone who represents the values, priorities, and passions of this district and who will ensure that these values are translated into real and meaningful change. Someone who understands the challenges we all face with rising property taxes, small businesses and job creation, and attacks on ourselves and our rights. I will ensure that those who call our district home will have a keen ear and a strong voice in me.

Please join me and help continue the fight for our shared progressive values.

ABOUT YONI

A resident  and community activist in the 12th District for over 27 years, Jonathan "Yoni" Pizer and his husband Brad Lippitz are pillars of the community where they raised their two sons, Max (19) and Jack (16). Yoni, who earned an MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management after studying economics at the University of Wisconsin, has a long and distinguished record as both a small business owner and a community leader. Yoni has proudly served as the Community Liaison for Congressman Mike Quigley for over 5 years. In this capacity, Yoni has been the Congressman's eyes and ears, meeting with constituents, formulating policy, and insuring that the Congressman is well-versed and up-to-date on issues affecting the community he serves. Prior to that, Yoni owned and operated a supermarket supply company for 20 years. Representing the 12th District in Springfield at this critical time for our city, state and country allows Yoni to capitalize on his years of experience in these fields to best serve the district. With disturbing increases in hate crimes targeting LGBTQ communities, spikes in anti-Semitic incidents throughout the north side, and efforts to roll back hard-fought successes protecting reproductive health access, Yoni's experience and voice is needed in Springfield now more than ever.

Yoni has a long and extensive history of commitment to issues important to the 12th District. Yoni has convened countless distinguished public servants who have been in his home where they have met new and committed supporters, discussed issues of concern to their constituents, and addressed their future policy goals. Yoni is also active with several non-for-profit organizations, including Equality IllinoisHoward Brown HealthCenter on HalstedChicago House, Human Rights Campaign, Lambda Legal, Personal PAC, and ACLU of Illinois. Yoni has done grass-roots campaigning and organizing for Democratic presidential candidates for several decades. Now, as your State Representative, Yoni is fighting for the issues important to the 12th District.
